Hanson crosses “Great Divide” with anonymous airplay
Fri Sep 7, 2007 6:57 PM EDT135
By Cortney Harding
NEW YORK (Billboard) – Listeners tuning in to Chicago alternative rock station WKQX (Q101) on August 9 heard a catchy, guitar-driven track called “The Great Divide,” followed by an announcement that the song was produced by a “mystery artist.” It quickly became the most-requested song on the station and was put into power rotation by the programming department.
After three weeks of speculation, a DJ finally revealed the secret: The band behind the alt-rock hit was none other than Hanson, a trio of brothers best known for their pop-rock song “MMMBop,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks in 1997.
Q101 program director Spike, who masterminded the scheme, said the band has come a long way in the past 10 years.
“I’ve always liked Hanson and kept listening to them after ‘MMMBop,’ and after seeing them a while ago I realized they had become a different band,” Spike said. “It really hit me how good they were.” He realized the band still had the baggage of its old image to contend with, and that it wouldn’t be an easy sell. “I told all the DJs, ‘I want you to hear this song before I tell you who it is,’ and when they heard the song, they all dug it. They were initially nervous to play it, but they were blown away by the positive reaction.”
The band was also pleased and surprised by the success of the track, which for the week ending September 2 saw a 95 percent increase in digital downloads compared with the previous week, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
“The station wanted to let the song speak for itself,” pianist/vocalist Taylor Hanson said. “We were really happy they allowed people to hear something new and different.”
The band, which is gearing up for a tour to support its latest album, “The Walk” — released in August on its own 3G Records — has already seen interest from other stations that want to copy Q101’s formula.
“The station showed that taking a risk can lead to great success,” Hanson said. “Hopefully this will inspire others to do the same.”

Would it seem to demanding if I told a production company that the only way that they could produce my film is if they cast me in a major part (not neccesarily the lead, but one with at least some lines)?

cos like, ive only lived in ireland all my life and ive seen stuff and read american news and the comments one was about a girl selling kool-aid or something and the comments were about lemonade and selling it as a child and ive never ever seen a child selling anything apart from potatoes and people talk about twinkies and high school and grade whatever and im like wtf cos the only things i know about america come from the simpsons, lol probably not the best source ever, and on a episode a fail was like 60% or something?! here its like 40%. and are all secondry schools mixed? in american programs theres always a black person, im not being racist, im just saying, and in films EVERYONE is like size 10 im thinking its not really like that? lol, i probally sound really stupid but ive never been to america. and why do you say ‘erbs? ive gotton into a kind of fight on youtube about the pronounciation ( with americans) and they were like, but its french! and i was like but we’re speaking english not french! and how much does it snow? a lot? cos here we get barely any snow (cos we’re an island). and why do loads of americans say they’re from ireland, or have irish ancestors? LOL, i saw an episode of CSI NY and in it, the murderer was called finn WEXFORD. wexford is a county. and in it mr “wexford” started speaking irish and there was subs at the bottom and they were so so wrong i was pissing myself laughing and then some police man who talked to him in irish says something to the other police men like, didn’t your grandad teach you irish or something l.o.l. it was so funny.
and there’s this programme, the i.t. crowd, its british its the funniest show ever i heard there was going to be an american version but it was cancelled i looked it up on youtube it was horrible. they kept moss, but changed everyone else. roy (who is meant to be irish) had an american accent. they kept the very same script but it just wasn’t right. look it up, then look at the normal programme. don’t worry, im almost done lol.
why do some people in america think its the best place ever? im sure its not. i wouldn’t say ireland is either. maybe there’s some place somewhere nobody knows about and its just the best place ever, like no pollution or crime or bullying or whatever and everyone is equal and safe.
there probally isn’t though lol.
i have to agree with eddie izzard though. i remember he said (about america) “But you’re the Roman Empire, yeah! So you’ve got vomitoriums and orgies to look forward to… Let the President lead the way! ‘Cause no one cares in America and… I don’t know. In Europe, we’re just watching you, and going, “What ARE you doing?”
i really agree with him lol.
so yeah. just tell me what it’s like there please id like to know.

I found myself watching TV in my kitchen, only the TV was not where its supposed to be. It was in a hole in the cabinet doers. And I was watching paid-programing. A lady was selling plastic silver bags. I looked out the doer leading to another room and saw my mom changing a baby’s diaper, she was baby siting for a neighbor. But in real life she has never baby sat for the neighbors. And then I thought that the plastic silver bag on TV would make a good trash bag for the baby’s diapers. I called and ordered the bag. Then two minuets later the bag came, my mom brought it to me and said “Oh, You need to walk around town before you get your Mayo”. It was as if the bag were a gimmick or like a cereal box that said “free pries” and in small print “when you send in 8 box tops”. Or at least that’s how my mom sounded. And I didn’t want Mayo, nothing was said on TV that involved mayo. Then I started to look at the bag, not that much different from a trash bag or shopping bag…………Continued.
It had a hole cut at the top for a handle. And it was silver but it had some black stripes near the bottom. It was flat and light weight. And then I noticed a pink square patch at the top that said “NO!”. As I looked closer I found words all up and down the bag, but for some reason I read only the first few words and quit. It said something like ” No! Totally No. I looked inside and found the tiniest little wrapped up boxes, like Christmas or birthday presents. There were many light pink packages that were the perfect size for a Barbie doll. I expected them to all be empty but they were not as I found each one had smaller virgins of a child’s toy. One had the smallest baby doll, it looked so real but was no larger than half a thumb. One had a tiny bike and one had a tiny pogo stick. Another had a little princess dress and crown fit for a tiny person no greater than the size of your thumb. As I was opening more and more I noticed the bag was still flat, ………….continued
all the tiny boxes apeared not to be there but as I looked inside they were there and still plenty more to open. And so I opened yet another, only this time there was no tiny toy. Instedd there popped out a scolpture of a pink Flamingo. It was at least 15 times the size of the tiny box, with long legs and its wings spread up & out. It was rather hot pink colored, with sparkling glitter spread everywhere. Its color was bright and brilliant enough but it seemed to glow and I noticed it did not have two wings but three. The third wing was tucked under the birds right wing, somewhat folded and less than half the size of the other wings. And then somehow I knew it was the Holy spirit! I shouted out to my mother “Look, Its the Holy Spirit!”. And then I thought “Lets give it to Dad for fathers day”. In real life my dad is not a real Christian, so I do try and get him to know God and the Holy spirit but so far he has yet to listen. ………….continued
And If I did have that flamingo, giving it to dad for fathers day would be the vary thing I’d do. But then the Flamingo started to change into another bird. This was a blooming object. And once it had changed it became a bird that dos not exist. This new bird was the same body shape as a dove, it had a yellow tummy, Zebra striped back, a yellow black & white spotted neck & head, and two feathers as a crest on the top of its head. And it began to bloom and change again. This time I did not look at the bird as I was distracted by two tiny people. Serounding a bird and the tiny people were huge petals of a purple flower. The people were siting in the flower on there knees staring at me. They had the whitest skin, whiter than snow. And the blackest hair. One was a girl and one was a boy. But they were still too large to be the owners of the toys I opend earlier, And much too old. They looked up at me, the girl was not fearful but looked to be upset with me, ………………continued
as if something was all my fault. And the boy looked at me with fear and caution, he slowly closed a petal of the flower, as if I would not see him if he did not move. And as he closed one petal they all closed, and the dream was over.
PS: The baby was just gone after some point. And the tiny people were not fairies or magic at all.
The people were not children and they were somehow a part of this blooming object, the purple flower and people were good not evile. And I hate religin, its not my belief, its my relationship with God that makes me christian.

This is the house I grew up in, built in 1956. My sister and I are going to sell the house. This crack follows the mortar joints of the cinder-blocks, all the way across the house. There is no leaking and when I probe the crack (approx. 1/2″ wide) it seems to be solid, leading me to believe the mortar is intact on the other side of the blocks.

Eminem clearly is the top selling artist for this decade in the US
http://new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/chart_watch/34074/chart-watch-extra-the-top-20-album-sellers-of-the-2000s
but worldwide Eminem claims 75-80 million (albums and singles) and 75-80 million is exactly the number of the music company of Robbie Williams claim as well ,so who is it?
No he can’t sale 50 million in the rest 3 months man lol He has sold 35 million during the whole decade and will he sale 50 in 3 months??lol
Get serious bro but Michael stands in top 3 of all time after Beatles and Elvis so he does not need to be a top seller for a single decade(He was top seller of the 80’s as well)

WASHINGTON (AP) – The White House turned to an experienced former investment banker Friday to run the federal government’s $700 billion bank rescue effort, selecting the head of mortgage giant Fannie Mae as an assistant Treasury secretary.
Herbert Allison Jr., Fannie Mae’s president and CEO, will replace Neel Kashkari, a holdover from the Bush administration.
Allison, who must be confirmed by the Senate, would bear the title of assistant Treasury secretary for financial stability and counselor to Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner.
He would be in charge of the Troubled Asset Relief Program, the fund that has injected billions of dollars into banks in hopes of unclogging credit. He would inherit a program that has been sharply criticized in Congress and which banks have come to view warily because of the restrictions attached to receipt of its funds.
President Barack Obama’s administration has been slowly filling Treasury positions, hindered by candidates who have either withdrawn from consideration or been caught up in the vetting process.
Allison’s selection presents the administration with yet another challenge. If Allison is confirmed, both Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac would be without chief executives. David Moffett, formerly Freddie Mac’s CEO, resigned in March.
In Allison, the White House selected a former Merrill Lynch investment banker who became chairman of the retirement fund manager TIAA-CREF. Allison served as finance chief for John McCain’s 2000 campaign for the Republican presidential nomination. But politically, Allison has shown himself to be bipartisan in his allegiances, contributing to both Democrats and Republicans, according to Federal Election Commission records.
Since taking over in September at Fannie Mae, where he took no salary, Allison, the son of an FBI agent, developed a reputation for open-mindedness with consumer advocates, even those who have had an a contentious relationship with the giant company.
“Mr. Allison is well-positioned to lead the TARP,” said Scott Talbott, chief lobbyist for the Financial Services Roundtable, an industry group. “He has a wealth of experience with buying, selling, protecting, and managing assets to protect the taxpayer investment and strengthen the economy.”
Some industry officials said that by pulling Allison away from Fannie Mae, the White House was signaling that TARP would remain a viable component of the government’s stabilization efforts for the financial industry, even in the face of hostile lawmakers and wary bankers.
Bert Ely, a banking industry consultant in Alexandria, Va., said Allison has the advantages of being a known quantity to the Obama administration who is “much more of a financial heavyweight” than Kashkari.
Plus, he said, the new job would likely be more of a challenge than running Fannie and Freddie, which have been operating under tight government oversight since last September. “In this new situation, he’s going to be much more of a policymaker,” Ely said. “I can understand why he would want to take it.”

GEOEYE BEGINS SELLING IMAGERY FROM ITS NEWEST SATELLITE
By TURNER BRINTON
Space News Staff Writer
WASHINGTON — GeoEye has begun selling imagery from its newest and most capable satellite to non-U.S. government customers following an extended test and checkout period during which the spacecraft experienced pointing problems due to a software glitch, according to a Feb. 5 press release issued by the Dulles, Va.-based company.
Sales of GeoEye-1 satellite imagery have yet to begin to GeoEye’s biggest and most important customer, the U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), but company officials expect that to happen over the next few weeks, the press release said.
GeoEye-1 was launched Sept. 6, 2008, and is touted by the company as the world’s highest-resolution commercial imaging satellite, capable of distinguishing ground objects as small as 0.41 meters across. The NGA financed $237 million of the satellite’s $502 million in construction and launch costs under a program called NextView, which also funded a similar satellite built by GeoEye competitor DigitalGlobe of Longmont, Colo.
GeoEye originally expected its satellite to become operational around 45 days after launch, but on-orbit testing revealed a problem with the software interface between the satellite and its star tracker system, which allows it to properly orient itself in space. The problem affected GeoEye’s ability to precisely determine the ground location of GeoEye-1 imagery. The software glitch, coupled with programmatic and launch schedule issues that delayed GeoEye-1’s launch by a year and a half, resulted in a down year for GeoEye, which through the first nine months of 2008 had a 23.6 percent decrease in revenue compared to the same period in 2007, according to filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
GeoEye currently derives most of its revenue from sales of imagery from its aging Ikonos satellite, launched in 1999, which is less capable than GeoEye-1.
In the press release, GeoEye Chief Operating Officer William Schuster said GeoEye-1 was built to “extremely exacting requirements” that proved difficult to meet during the satellite’s test phase. “Additional improvements can still be made, but we have succeeded in attaining our performance objectives,” he said.
The company has thus begun selling GeoEye-1 imagery to government customers in Europe, Asia and the Middle East as well as commercial users. GeoEye is submitting the latest GeoEye-1 imagery to the NGA for certification, which is expected to take a couple of weeks, company spokesman Mark Brender said in an interview.
Once GeoEye-1 imagery is certified for use by the NGA, which procures commercial imagery on behalf of U.S. military and intelligence community users, GeoEye will begin receiving payments of $12.5 million per month for one year under a contract modification signed with the NGA in December 2008. After that contract expires, the company and the NGA will have to negotiate a new contract if sales are to continue, Brender said.
Meanwhile, GeoEye is pressing ahead with plans for its third-generation imaging satellite, GeoEye-2, which will be similar to its predecessor but have some increased tasking capabilities and better ground resolution, Brender said.
The company has ordered $28 million worth of long-lead components for the GeoEye-2 sensor from ITT Space Systems of Rochester, N.Y., which built GeoEye-1’s imaging camera, Brender said. GeoEye has not said whether the GeoEye-2 satellite platform will be procured from General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems of Gilbert, Ariz., which built GeoEye-1. GeoEye anticipates launching the satellite as early as 2012.
The U.S. government has yet to make clear whether it will underwrite construction of additional commercial imaging satellites as it did under the NextView program. Pentagon plans last year to build up to two commercial-class imaging satellites to be operated by the U.S. National Reconnaissance Office and serve military and intelligence users were squashed by Congress. The Pentagon has not yet revealed the details of its budget request for 2010.

Hi, I’m kenwen. I have traselated this letter to English. I am really appreciate if someone could check this for me. Dec.15 is my deadline and I cannot find any native speaker around me.
And two more letters need to be checked. Could you please check them for me as well? Thanks!!!
By the way, I think I am good at Chinese and Japanese. I would like to help anyone with Chinese and Japanese problem.
Dear Sir or Madam
As Miss. xxxx’s lecturer and advisor, I know this student very well. She has extremely strong ability to learn, and high creativity. I strongly recommend her to enroll in the PHD course in your college.
Firstly, Miss.xxxxx has strong ability to learn and great potential. Honestly, she is not good at Japanese at first, since her major at our University was not Japanese language. But she reached the level to speak and understand Japanese quite well after six months of stay in Japan. She could lead 15 Japanese students in a work shop to develop a creative product to promote environment conscious society, and made a presentation in front of big audience in this workshop. The team won the best team award. Also, she applied to a paper contest entitled “For Symbiosis between Japan and the World” sponsored by Nomura Research Institute, a Japan leading research and consulting firm. The title of her paper, consisting of 10 thousand words in Japanese was “Borrow the Power of Doraemon! Product placement advertising in animation”, and again awarded to Judges Special Prize in the contest. Another example to show her strong ability to learn is that she mastered advanced statistics course given in our medical school within a short period of time to the level enough to assist my PHD student in conducting an epidemic field work for the thesis. She applied statistics analysis method in the right manner and utilizes software properly, contributing to the excellent thesis. When she found an opportunity to learn, she always reached the level more than I had expected.
Secondly, her creativeness really impressed me. She showed this ability both in her academic research and daily practice. In her assignment report, you can always find some interesting concepts rather than the ordinary thinking styles. I remember that when DENTSU, a Japan and World major communication firm, held a contest for paper on the advertisement, she wrote a thesis about “War and Advertising”, She gave a concept of “Pensieve advertising”. She explained that the advertisement or campaign about wars could be more than vision and narration, and any other senses of the human body could be added on. This creative idea finally won Students Advertising Paper Award. In her practice, she always used her brain very well and intensively. When she attended the internship program at Hokkaido Television Broadcasting Company, she took part in a project to introduce the tour in Hokkaido in a different way from normal reports for Hokkaido like just providing information on sites. She created a campaign proposal based upon “unique selling proposition” which was based on her research on the feathers of Hokkaido. She developed a proposal entitled“Romantic Hokkaido” and gained lots of high praise from the department she worked for as an intern. Knowing that work and her building reputation, I was also impressed and gratified.
Based on both professional and individual performance, I, with confidence, admit that Miss. xxxxx has analytical as well as creative, and comprehensive talent. Also, she is really a person who sweats at brain, body and heart to accomplish the mission utilizing the talent, regardless the mission is given or she set it for herself. I believe this young woman’s unusual character will make her competent for further graduate study abroad. I would really appreciate it if you could accept her into your programs. If you want to discuss anything pertaining to her application, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I’m an Indian 23 male. Presently working as an office boy in Abu Dhabi, UAE. As everybody I too had a lot of expectation about my life. I was a very good boy in my school days. I could pass my SSLC (10’Th) exam in a first class mark. But by many a reason I couldn’t perform in my +2 (12’Th) class. After my +2 I had a 2 to 3year’s break in my education. During that period I went in 2 an institute where I could learn Photography & Photoshop. Though I went 2 learn Photography I seemed 2 have interested in Photoshop. This is my problem (irresolute mind) that I would like 2 discuss with U. But by that I could be an accomplished Photo designer with short cut keys (a good speed). I don’t know what I lacked 2 not continue in the field. Then for a while I joined in an institute 2 learn X-Ray welding. Though I finished the course I didn’t even asked for my certificate by the reason some one told me that I would not be able 2 get a related job in Gulf countries with out a minimum experience of 5 to 10 years. I didn’t even enquire whether it was true or not. This is my problem (irresolute mind) that I would like 2 discuss with U.
Within this time my mind longed too much 2 get higher education. Then after 3 years I went in 2 my +2 school 2 buy my Transfer certificate & related papers!! I started 2 study again for BA English Degree course. I wrote my 1’st year exam well & yet the result published. Soon I wrote the exam I saw the advertisement that my company (supplying office boys) published in a news paper. By my lack of looking before leap I fell in their sub contracting trap 2 a very small salary. Now I understand something that caused me 2 fail in my life ambitions. But yet I couldn’t get a clear picture. This is my problem (irresolute mind) that I would like 2 discuss with U.
But U can’t blame me for all this completely. Because for all this impatiently moving, I had a reason that due 2 the bad debits that my family has in various banks. We have 2 make huge money for the interest itself every year. So I wished 2 overcome all this problems all of a sudden by getting a job abroad. Any way now I learned a lesson that we can’t make money with out a good profession or well education. So now I wish 2 try once more in those fields. Now I have decided 2 leave my family in a crisis by selling our home instead of bearing those bad debits & interests (only for a small period-after I got a good job can’t I replant them 2 an own house from a rent house?) Here is I need Ur helps 2 lead me in 2 light.
What I need 2 study now? Should I continue my BA? 2 tell U frankly now I have interest in neither education nor Photography & Photoshop but in computers.
Before U answer me 2 the question that “can I become a software engineer or even a computer operator”? U may need 2 know my stand in computers. I came 2 know about computers during my Photographical studies. Then itself I had too much interest in short cut keys. If so now I have a good speed 2 do any kind of program even without mouse. I mean that even though I see a program that I haven’t seen in my life before soon I will be able 2 understand this is this & that. By this interest itself I could learn a lot of short cut keys as well as Commands. Now what I’m telling U that I am able 2 operate a system & all the common programs like MS office, excel, etc without a mouse. I clearly know that these things only are not a qualification 2 be a software engineer. Then what I’m asking U that “do U believe I’m able 2 be an s/ware eng? If so what should I do? Or do U see any other field suitable for me? Or should I continue the job that I’m in now & try 2 solve the bank debits with this small salary & help my parents 2 not desert in 2 a rent house? Hurry pls advise me, I don’t know any thing what I should do

Every Monday, Tuesday and Friday, I have a hard time parking near my home. My neighbor has a driveway which leads to their garage. Now, they are selling vehicles from their home as well. These vehicles for sale are parked on the street, which stops those of us without easy access to our property from parking on the public street. Is it legal to have more than 1 vehicle for sale at a time.
